ACE holds monthly hour-long discussion sessions on Zoom for ALL club members and English-learning students to attend. These meetings serve as a way for English-learning students to practice speaking and for everyone to learn from diverse cultures and perspectives.
Our discussion sessions are lively, engaging forums where English-learning students and global peers come together to explore meaningful issues. Designed to promote fluency and confidence in spoken English, these hour-long conversations revolve around thought-provoking questions on topics like climate change, education, inequality, and mental health. With no screens and all faces, participants are encouraged to listen actively, speak thoughtfully, and appreciate diverse viewpoints from around the world. Whether you're looking to strengthen your English or broaden your global awareness, our discussion sessions offer a welcoming, intellectually stimulating space for all voices to be heard.
ACE used to host zoom panels in previous years, but we have decided to switch exclusively to discussion sessions so every member has a chance to share their ideas. Feel free to read more about zoom panels and check out past sessions!
Veronica's presentation about mental health during the officer-only rehearsal.
During the unusual summer of 2020, ACE began its worldwide Zoom panel series... Students from all over the world joined us in discussing topics like music, mental health, and art in English.
During each panel, we have two speakers–ACE officers/members–who lead the panel with topics of their interest!
To encourage discussion, Zoom panels are very interactive: cameras should be on, almost every slide elicits deep conversation, and many questions are posed (Socratic Style!)
